My name is Rebecca and I am honored to be the blog manager here at Love True.
When I was 15 I found out that girls and boys around my own age, and younger, were being trafficked in the United States. These peers were not only being trafficked here but were born here, lived here, and then trafficked here. I knew it wasn’t right that these individuals were having their rights taken away from them by those who were trafficking them. In most cases they weren’t receiving help, in the form of prevention, rescue, and/or rehabilitation. In my core I knew this was wrong and wanted to find ways in which I could help change these facts.
I got connected to Love True through family and friends who were involved in the cause already. I volunteered at races, speaking events, and really any point in which there was a need that I felt I could fulfill. This will be my largest role with the organization thus far, and I couldn’t be more excited to come into it. I not only have a heart for eradicating human trafficking in the U.S. I also have a heart for my generation and the next to understand their innate worth. I believe that if we had instilled in us an understanding of our own personal worth, and of those around us, we would have a respect for human beings that would in and of itself eradicate human injustices such as human trafficking.
My hope is to manage this blog in a way that information and education is readily available to those who want to learn more about this national issue, how to assist in its eradication, understand the different types of trafficking, and to hear from the hearts of those who have experienced trafficking first hand.
